Calculus for you

We were told during our school days to master Calculus to have a better understanding of further studies in Mathematics or Physics. In our times our knowledge was restricted to few text and reference books. Today we have all the resources available on the net which inspired me to start a relearning process. At the very outset we should ask ourselves why are we learning calculus and why is it necessary in various domain. Calculus in brief is study of change however small it can be even as small as growth of hair in 1 micro second. According to wikipedia:

Calculus (Latin, calculus, a small stone used for counting) is a branch in mathematics focused on limits, functions, derivatives, integrals, and infinite series. This subject constitutes a major part of modern mathematics education. It has two major branches, differential calculus and integral calculus, which are related by the fundamental theorem of calculus. Calculus is the study of change, in the same way thatgeometry is the study of shape and algebra is the study of operations and their application to solving equations. A course in calculus is a gateway to other, more advanced courses in mathematics devoted to the study of functions and limits, broadly called mathematical analysis. Calculus has widespread applications inscience, economics, and engineering and can solve many problems for which algebra alone is insufficient.

Historically, calculus was called "the calculus of infinitesimals", or "infinitesimal calculus". More generally, calculus (plural calculi) may refer to any method or system of calculation guided by the symbolic manipulation of expressions. Some examples of other well-known calculi are propositional calculus, variational calculus, lambda calculus, pi calculus and join calculus.

Back to Kolkata

I came back to Kolkata on 1st November 2009. Its a not the exact repeat of my 2001 homecoming yet the excitement was just the same. The city still holds its heritage charm and warmth can be felt at every nooks and corners. Winter in kolkata had been always special for me. Hope to have a good times ahead with family and friends.

Back to Sonepat

After a long vacation we have come back to our sweet little village Khewra. Its very much sultry this year and me now desperately missing Kolkata monsoon. All the students returned to their hostel after putting up at least 10-12 kgs...courtesy mom made home food. I'm tired of non veg and honestly thinking of turning veggie(for 3 days at least)....sutapa is laughing while i write these lines. I cant resolute such bullshit just now as two tangri pieces are lying in the fridge awaiting their deserved treatment in electric oven. As of now I feel like swimming as mercury and humidity rises simultaneously in Sonepat.

Good Day to all!!

The Journey Begins....

We feel the world is really round and small when we meet someone unexpectedly. However sometimes it seems to be really big when you fail to reach to someone you wish to meet.
